Process

We have a five-step process to finding the right talent for your organization:

  • PHASE 1: ORGANIZATIONAL ASSESSMENT

We gain insight and perspective into your organization, solicit board and search committee input, and create a communication strategy.

  • PHASE 2: POSITION DEFINITION

We develop a performance profile, an outcome-based recruitment tool that explains job expectations to interested candidates.

  • PHASE 3: RECRUITMENT

We define the right recruitment strategy to fit your needs, conduct the recruiting process, collect resumes, interview candidates, and conduct due diligence.

  • PHASE 4: SELECTION AND OFFER

Using all of the information gathered from the search process, we select and hire the executive director, preparing the search committee to bring the finalist to the board and creating the offer letter.

  • PHASE 5: POST HIRE SUPPORT

We will work with your new hire and the search committee to plan a smooth transition, draft a press release on the addition to your team that can be distributed to local media, and follow up with the Executive Director at their three and six month anniversaries of hire to make sure the transition was successful.

Fees

All of our services are priced based on the number of consultative hours it requires to complete a project. We don’t like unpleasant surprises any more than you do. For that reason, unless the scope of work changes substantively the project fee we quote is the fee we charge.

Executive search firms typically charge one-third of the total compensation the placed executive earns in their first year, or a mandatory minimum fee. We believe that there is a flaw in this pricing model, and that many nonprofits pay entirely too much for this service. We want to make our executive search capabilities available to as many organizations as possible. Our fees are almost always less than the “one-third” pricing model used by other firms and are based on:

  • The complexity and size of the organization
  • The salary range of the position and availability of talent in that salary band
  • The challenge of the recruitment, based on your organization’s dynamics (geography, size and experience of the search committee, organizational health, etc)

We’re open and transparent about our fees. Call or email us if you’d like more information about this.
